Prior to joining Ikigai, Hans was an IT consultant, Bitcoin miner and a prolific crypto analyst and writer. He worked for several years as a software engineer after earning his B.S. in Information Technology, and subsequently earned an MBA from Whitworth University . His articles on the investing site Seeking Alpha were well-received and he held the distinction of being the “Opinion Leader” on the topic of cryptocurrency for more than a year. Hans is the creator of the popular Bitcoin metric known as “Reserve Risk,” which can be found on sites like Glassnode and LookIntoBitcoin, and has been featured on Coindesk, Yahoo!, Bitcoin Magazine, Forbes, MSN, and several other well-known media outlets.
Hans started off at Ikigai as a Senior Quant Researcher, and eventually became the Head of Quant Strategy. Currently, he is involved in many aspects of the investment process including: conducting, reviewing and publishing research, writing and maintaining software systems, trading, researching and investing in emerging crypto markets, building and automating quantitative models, and being an educator in the space.
